The welcoming Irish pub interiors began with a lick of paint and soon became adorned with brightly coloured signs or prints of advertisements. As publicans and shopkeepers increased the practice of prominently displaying the ads, the phenomenon of Irish pub bric-a-brac evolved.
Ornaments and oddments that included many Guinness signs and advertisements earned spots around the pub as decoration. To this day when I travel I come across an Irish pub and love looking at the bits and pieces, the photos and the traditional bric-a-brac that add to the character of the place and also entice people to visit Ireland to experience the real thing.
