I think it's more the fact that we aren't allowed go to our favourite pubs makes me want to go so badly !!! I would murder a cold pint of Hop House or a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio right now .. and it's only half two in the afternoon !!
This week I will bring you on a little tour of my favourites watering holes in Dublin.
Starting with Toners ! Situated on Baggot Street this is one of Dublin's oldest and most famous traditional pubs. When it firstopened in 1818 it was a bar/grocery shop. The original old stock drawers are still behind the bar and there are cabinets filled with curio, elaborate mirrors, flagstone floors and brass bar taps from which flows that pint of Hop House that I am craving !! It was frequented by many of Ireland's literary greats, including Patrick Kavanagh and also W B Yeats. He didn't often take a tipple but when he did the snug in Toner's was his favourite spot ! There'll be a rush for the snugs when it finally reopens ...
